• New PET scanner coming soon to Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook

  Corner Brook MHA Gerry Byrne says in 2017 a decision was made to change the design of the hospital to not include a PET Scanner but in 2021, government gave the hospital’s Foundation $2 million dollars to purchase the equipment.

• City of Corner Brook looks for a solution to address accessibility with the transit system

  Mayor Jim Parsons says the city received funding for an accessibility study which engaged a lot of the community. The remainder of the funding will go towards implementation.

• Tourism Minister says "air traffic up 21 percent over last year"

  Steve Crocker shared that it was a “pivotal year for tourism and we have officially reached recovery in terms of surpassing the pre-pandemic visitation numbers.

• RCMP concerned about trend of highly potent illegal drugs in NL

  Superintendent Stephane Thoms says synthetic opioids can be made just about anywhere in a clandestine lab. 17 people are facing charges and 8 of them are still wanted by police. 

• City of Corner Brook appoints councillor Bill Griffin to Western Regional Service Board

  Mayor Jim Parsons says it's very important to have representation on that board since it deals with garbage.
