• Corner Brook updates contracts for soccer fields, baseball and 911

  Councillor Vaughn Granter says the city has been operating 911 since 2015 and has entered 5-year term agreements with NL911 and the province of Newfoundland and Labrador to provide 911 call answering and transfer services.

• Postal workers union to hold special fundraiser in Deer Lake tomorrow at the post office

  CUPW local president Lorie Williams says it will include a barbecue at the post office between 12-2 p.m. to support the Humber Valley Imagination Library, which is part of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library dedicated to gifting books to  children up to the age of five.  

• K-12 students in NL are invited to create a poster for Seniors Month

  The campaign is called “Growing Bolder” and the youth campaign is “Growing bolder, young eyes on bold lives.”

• Cape St. George man facing child pornography related charges

  Guy Gerard Rouzes Jr. of Cape St. George was arrested by the RCMP-RNC Integrated Internet Child Exploitation (IICE) Unit on May 8th.

• Police and highway enforcement to target high-risk drivers this week

  Cst James Cadigan says the weeklong campaign is intended to raise awareness focusing on behaviours that put road users most at risk, including impaired driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving and driving without a seatbelt.
