A huge boost for highway improvements.
$306 million dollars has been announced to expand the Trans Canada Highway by adding 2 divided highway sections. A 15 km section between Bishop’s Falls and Grand Falls-Windsor and a 40 km section beginning at Whitbourne and heading west. $20 million will be used to make a 15 km passing lane leaving Port aux Basques. These investments will help traffic flow and strengthen transportation connections.

NL Hydro issues power warning for Saturday morning
Newfoundland & Labrador Hydro has issued a power warning for the island, effective Saturday morning, January 24, due to ongoing conditions at the Bay d’Espoir hydroelectric plant and higher-than-normal electricity demand.

One ATV operator was uninjured, while the second operator – whose helmet came off during the accident - suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital by emergency services personnel with NL Health Services.
