40 percent of women will experience intimate partner violence

    The risk is higher for some women, like Indigenous, a minority, living in poverty, these experiences can be 6 times more often. 

    According to Stats Canada, 40 percent of women will experience intimate partner violence at some time in their life. Heather Davis is the Executive at Willow House in Corner Brook. She says the risk is higher for some women, like Indigenous, a minority, living in poverty, these experiences can be 6 times more often. Davis says Willow House serves a large part of the west coast and they’ve housed 135 women and children so far this year. She says they’ve been open for forty years now and have served over 7100 women and children.
