The Stephenville Dymond International Airport is gearing up for what looks like will be a very busy year ahead. Owner Carl Dymond first announced his intentions to buy the bankrupt infrastructure back in 2021. He says it’s been a long road to finally acquiring the airport last August, but was well worth it. Dymond is looking 2-3 years down the road when flights are normalized and people will be walking into the airport, eating at restaurants and staying at the airport hotel. Diamond gave airport workers a $10 an hour wage increase and says they’ve accomplished a lot in the past few months. He says administrative work has kept them incredibly busy, as well as getting the lighting project done, and the friction testing vehicle has been working sending reports to airports all over the world. Dymond says the lighting project and new vehicles can be seen at the tarmac but 90 percent of the work they have been doing is behind the scenes.
