There’s a new food stand in Corner Brook and it’s operated by students in post secondary education. It’s called, “Ugly Stix.” and it’s located across from the Esso Station on Main Street., open 7 days a week 11-7pm. Owner-operator Kosuke Toba says they opened yesterday and ran out of hot dog buns pretty quickly. Toba is an accounting student at CNA. He says it’s fully run by students and that’s why he started the business, to give his little sister and her friends a job. Toba says the Ugly Stix food stand has what you want with mill burgers, bbq burgers, hot dogs, sausage dogs, grilled cheese, we got the works! Toba says their signature sauces are addictive, the bbq sauce is a smoky tangy mix and the mill burger sauce compliments the Corner Brook audience.

Brady Taylor is a Youth Ventures Program Coordinator at CBDC in Corner Brook. He is going into his fourth year of studies towards a business degree. Taylor enjoyed helping Toba get to this day. He says they help young people aged 18-29 start up businesses. Taylor says Toba visited an information booth back in May and the conversation went from there. Check out the Ugly Stix food stand across from the Esso station on Main Street.
