The 80 seats in the Faculty of Medicine’s four-year undergraduate medical program currently includes 66 seats for residents of Newfoundland and Labrador.

A contract worth $120,000 has been awarded to Spindle Strategy Corp to complete a review of the expansion of Memorial University’s Doctor of Medicine undergraduate program from 80 to 90 students each year. The review will include requirements such as infrastructure, potential building expansion, staffing, resources, and equipment. The expansion will help support more medical learners to receive the high quality of medical education at Memorial University and gain valuable clinical experience to attract them to practice in the province upon completion of their training. The Department of Health and Community Services and Memorial University anticipate the report to be completed by next summer. The 80 seats in the Faculty of Medicine’s four-year undergraduate medical program currently includes 66 seats for residents of Newfoundland and Labrador, with the remaining 14 seats allocated for learners from other parts of Canada.
