A scary incident in Carbonear but police arrest a man who was allegedly carrying a rifle

    The matter is still under investigation to determine if criminal charges will be laid.

    A scary incident in Carbonear this morning. RCMP have arrested a man who was allegedly carrying a gun and drove in the Valley Road area. Cpl Jolene Garland says they got a report  shortly after 8:15 this morning that a man was seen in a business area carrying what looked like a rifle. Cpl Garland says tips from the public helped police find the man, but a firearm was not located. They did find a gun case. The matter is still under investigation to determine if criminal charges will be laid.
