A St. George's man speaks of his journey with heart disease

    Over 1 million Canadians are affected by heart valve disease and awareness of the signs and symptoms is very low. 

    Today is Heart Valve Disease Awareness Day and Heart Valve Voice Canada is launching a campaign to improve early detection. Bill Power is back in St. George’s after being away since the seventies. He says it was sheer luck that his new doctor found the heart murmur. Power was diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis. Power says while a stethoscope is a wonderful piece of medical equipment, you have to see a doctor first.                        Over 1 million Canadians are affected by heart valve disease and awareness of the signs and symptoms is very low.
