A stop work order that was issued in the Pratt Street Subdivision area of Corner Brook almost a year ago has been lifted. At this week’s public meeting, Councillor Bill Griffin says a stop work order was issued to Valleyview Estates Limited on August 18, 2023 for failing to develop land in accordance with subdivision drawings. City staff has worked with Valleyview Estates Limited for the past several months to come up with an acceptable plan on how to move forward and remediate this matter. Meanwhile, Councillor Vaughn Granter says he has received correspondence from residents in the middle Pratt Street area adjacent to the development concerning water damage. He asked if measures could be put in place to prevent the water from moving towards homes and if there were any compromises made by city staff with the developer. The city’s Acting Manager Daren Charters says there were no compromises made and they accepted the company’s engineered plan. Council voted in favour of revoking the stop work order.
