Mayor Tom Rose says a new Code of Conduct was challenging for councilors and that took a toll on council.

Nearly half of Stephenville’s town council has resigned.

Mayor Tom Rose says the council has 7 members and 3 of the youngest are moving on. He says a new Code of Conduct was challenging for councilors and that took a toll on council. Rose says the airport deal is done and wind energy is coming. Rose says councillor Tracy Boland just took over a new business this year, councillor Lenny Tiller wasn’t supportive of the airport deal, and councillor Tristen Hulan just had a new baby.

He says complaints were taking up too much of their time and resources, while 99.9% of these complaints were frivolous. Rose says nominations for the vacant council seats will take place Monday and Tuesday at the town office. A by-election will take place March 6.
