Busy weekend for police in the capital city

• Dangerous driver arrested in Corner Brook after she fled from police

  Shortly after noon on Tuesday, she went through a stop sign on Clarence Street but took off recklessly when an officer tried to stop her. 

• Corner Brook RNC hand out tickets, seize vehicles and suspend licenses in three hours on Wednesday

  Around 8:30 p.m., a 15-year-old operating a dirt bike on Broadway Crescent was stopped.

• NL Summer Games is less than 30 days away and more volunteers are needed

  Volunteers need to be at least 15 years old and have a recent code of conduct from the RNC. They are also looking for people who can speak french.

• Corner Brook Mayor says extra police presence in downtown area is being noticed

  The city was getting a lot of complaints concerning panhandling in the downtown area and some people did not feel safe.

• RNC issue warning to concert goers about online ticket scams

  Police say scammers create fake listings offering tickets at higher prices, especially for sold-out events, to attract eager fans.
