Being able to make a cell phone call or connect online is something we all depend on and it really has an impact on our lives if we can’t. Government wants communities to submit expressions of interest if they need better service. Industry Minister Andrew Parsons says projects will be cost shared several ways with the province paying 40 percent, providers paying 50 percent. Minister Parsons says they will accept expressions of interest from communities until mid-September. He says it’s part of the Cellular Service Improvement Initiative, a cost-shared program to encourage partnership to improve connectivity services. Minister Parsons says the next step will be a partnership with providers. Expressions of interest must identify an underserved area, and communities must show how much they can cover 10 percent of the project cost
