Corner Brook city hall discusses extra costs at the new recreation centre while completion gets closer

    Donny Burden, the city’s director of engineering, says extra costs will be billed back to the contractor. The original projected cost of the building was $25 million. 

    Corner Brook city hall approved $28,750 for an owner’s advisor at the new Regional Recreation Centre. The matter was discussed at this week’s public meeting. Councilor Pam Keeping says this is the 13th amendment for the project. Councilor Charles Pender asked about project completion and highlighted the facility is over budget. The city’s director of recreation, Peter Robinson says a completion date is getting closer and closer. Donny Burden, the city’s director of engineering, says extra costs will be billed back to the contractor. The original projected cost of the building was $25 million. 

    Meanwhile, the city also awarded a contract for night cleaning at  the new centre. Only one bid was received from Blair Holdings Limited in the amount of $162,826.20 for a period of 12 months.
