Corner Brook has been selected to host the 2026 Newfoundland and Labrador Summer Games. Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation Minister was at the Civic Centre this afternoon to make the announcement. As part of Year of Sport NL, Crocker says approximately $4.5 million has been earmarked to support sport initiatives as well as close to $50 million for the upcoming 2025 Canada Games.

Mayor Jim Parsons says Corner Brook has a long storied history of hosting major sports events and continues to invest in recreation and health living. He says this includes recent investments in jubilee field and the clubhouse, about $1.2M this year for new turf on our soccer field, the new regional recreation centre, which should be open in the next couple of months.
The province’s top athletes between the ages of 11 and 18 years old will compete in a variety of summer sports at the 2026 Summer Games, including track and field, swimming, soccer and more. Darren Colbourne is with Sport Newfoundland and Labrador. He says next year will also be the 50th anniversary of the games and those games were held in Corner Brook and Stephenville in 1976.
The Games are held every two years, alternating between winter and summer.
