Excitement is brewing as Corner Brook’s 52nd annual Winter Carnival kicks off tonight. Long time Kinsman Donnie Hutchings says people will want to be at Margaret Park a little early and it starts 7 p.m.  He says at tonight’s party in the park there will be food and a warm drink for everyone as they will be serving hot dogs and hot chocolate. There will be a chance for those under the age of 18 to enter a special contest this evening and entry forms at the entrance. Kinsman Mike Hoffe says Leif’s Treasure Chest is full of prizes with 7 items and a lot of Nintendo Switch stuff.

Meanwhile, join the Kinsmen Club of Corner Brook tomorrow for a night of games and chance and horse races. The Kintucky Derby features a series of races where horses advance to the finish line on a giant floor board determined by a wheel of chance. Six betting windows operated with a computer-odds making system and the last race will be the Owners Race. Action runs from 7 until midnight tomorrow at the Blomidon Golf and Country Club. This is a 19+event, sponsored by Bayfm and Molson Coors.
