A share of the total cost is provided but this year there hasn’t been any federal provincial agreement on infrastructure for the last year or so and that means next year’s construction season could be missed.

Corner Brook Mayor Jim Parsons says as part of having a balanced budget, the city relies on taxpayers money to run things. On Bayfm with Lenny Benoit, the Mayor says the only financial help from the provincial and federal governments are with capital projects. A share of the total cost is provided but this year there hasn’t been any federal provincial agreement on infrastructure for the last year or so and that means next year’s construction season could be missed. Parsons says this creates a real desert of funding and he’s encouraging other levels of government to figure something out because communities need the money. Meanwhile, he says the city has great staff who do great work managing affairs.
