Parsons says he met with a number of other mayors last week who share the same concerns.
Corner Brook Mayor Jim Parsons says there are dozens of people living in a hotel here that could move into NL Housing if there was a unit available. Parsons says he’s heard 12 units on the west coast will be renovated but that’s not enough. He says while there is a request for proposals to build an emergency shelter, it can’t come soon enough. Parsons says he met with a number of other mayors last week who share the same concerns. He says they meet regularly to share information and talk about what’s happening on provincial and federal levels. Parsons says housing is a provincial mandate. Parsons will be looking to talk about the need for social housing while attending Municipality NL’s Convention and Trade Show this week.
