The Chief Medical Examiner is investigating to determine the cause of death.
Corner Brook RNC continue to investigate the death of a young woman over the past weekend. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to the sudden death of a 22-year-old woman in the area of Riverhead Road on Saturday (Jan. 11) morning. The death is not believed to be suspicious. The Chief Medical Examiner is investigating to determine the cause of death.
Meanwhile, Tina Olivero is the founder of the Facebook group, “Guardians of Recovery.” She started the group in July of 2023 when her son Ben died of a fentanyl overdose in St. John’s. Olivero says she’s aware of the young woman’s death. Her Facebook group now has about 5900 members across the province. She expects there are 1-5 overdoses in this province every day. The number one cause of death in Canada right now for kids between 10 and 18 is illicit drug use. Olivero says her Facebook group was formed to bring addiction out of the dark and into the light. She says so far they’ve helped 49 people with addictions, and 300 parents of addicted children.
