Corner Brook's new garbage collection contract does not include bulk pick up or Christmas garbage

    This is due to the large increase in cost and once a resolution for these services has been found, it will go before council.

    Corner Brook city hall approved a new contract with Murphy Brothers for garbage pick up last night, but spring clean up and Christmas garbage collection are being reviewed. This is due to the large increase in cost and once a resolution for these services has been found, it will go before council. Speaking on Bayfm this morning with Lenny Benoit, Mayor Jim Parsons says it’s not surprising that costs have been going up and one of the biggest cost increase this year is the Spring clean up program and Christmas garbage. He says staff are reviewing options for bulk garbage. The new garbage contract with Murphy Brothers costs nearly $838,000 and does not include bulk garbage.
