The second half of the paving project will start mid-August
The paving season in Corner Brook is just about halfway complete. The contract was awarded to Marine Contractors and paving started on July 14th. Mayor Jim Parsons says work is complete at Park Street, West Street, St. Mark’s Avenue, Johnson’s Avenue, and Pittman’s Lane. “The city didn’t get any government funding in time but money from gas tax accumulated by the city will pay for paving on 12 roads, which is about $1 million.”
Mayor Parsons says there is paving underway on Corporal Pinksen Memorial Drive which should be complete soon. “It’s a short construction season in the city and we have to schedule projects when we can,” he says. “Use extra caution in these areas and have patience. Be safe.”While motorists continue to have access to these streets delays are to be expected.
