Briarside Affair Limited wants to develop 5.53 hectares of Crown land for the production of forage crops near Humber Village.
A couple of west coast projects are in the environmental assessment process. Briarside Affair Limited wants to develop 5.53 hectares of Crown land for the production of forage crops near Humber Village. The development would be an extension of the proponent’s existing apple orchard and forage farm. Work would include vegetation clearing, tilling, aeration, soil supplementation and seeding. The deadline for public comment is October 12th and the minister’s decision is due by October 22nd. Elsewhere, the removal of the Stephenville Crossing bridge has been released from environmental assessment with conditions to mitigate the effects on the environment. They include no clearing within 800 metres of eagle or osprey nests and a 200 metre buffer also applies to other raptor nests. The project also falls within the Species at Risk Act critical habitat for the Piping Plover.
