FFAW & ASP at odds over N.L. crab fishery

The Association of Seafood Producers is clear on their position with the crab fishery.

Prices are set by a government appointed panel which hears from the ASP. Executive Director Jeff Loder says there isn’t a formula for snow crab, like there is for other species. He says they spent 8 weeks negotiating with the FFAW and the price setting panel and could not reach an agreement. Loder says $2.20 per pound is a fair price based on where the market is. He says harvesters are fishing in other Atlantic areas.
