Former prime minister Brian Mulroney dead at 84

    Mulroney's daughter posted a statement to social media Thursday night.

    Former Canadian prime minister Brian Mulroney has died at the age of 84.

    “He died peacefully, surrounded by family” his daughter Caroline said in a post to Twitter on Thursday evening.

    Mulroney received medical treatment for prostate cancer in 2022 but had recovered by 2023, according to media reports.

    Mulroney was Canada’s 18th prime minister and led successive Progressive Conservative majority governments between 1984 and 1993.
