A cuddle bed is a larger bed whereby patients in palliative care get to sleep or cuddle with their loved one.
Bay of Islands MHA Eddie Joyce is praising the work of the Cuddle Bed Project, first started by the Strowbridge and Langer families. A cuddle bed is a larger bed whereby patients in palliative care get to sleep or cuddle with their loved one. Joyce says Mrs Strowbridge, who is now 95, got involved in the project when her husband died. He says fundraising is continuing for another cuddle bed at Western Memorial Regional Hospital. Joyce says Mrs Strowbridge and her daughters also find the time to knit newborn items that he will bring to a maternity ward in Africa. Joyce is planning on making a trip to Africa this year. Meanwhile, there will be a bingo at the Elks club this Sunday in support of the Cuddle Bed Project. A cuddle bed costs $18,000.
