health Minister Tom Osborne says there are areas of the province that are not well served, like the Northern Peninsula.

The NL Health Accord recommended an air ambulance service that could fly 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There are 7 different providers  and some of these can’t fly at night.  Health Minister Tom Osborne says they anticipate a heavier reliance on rotary wing or helicopter air ambulances in the future. He says there are areas of the province that are not well served, like the Northern Peninsula. There is a helicopter pad near completion on Belle Island, and this will mean alot of people needing an ambulance when the ferry is unable to operate.
