Police say it was a mental health issue and was resolved peacefully

RCMP were called out to a situation in Irishtown Summerside yesterday afternoon. Pictures sent to BOIR News showed 2 RCMP officers crouched behind a police car with their guns drawn. Cpl. Jolene Garland says a 60 year old man had barricaded himself in a home. She says police had received a property damage complaint and upon arrival, the man refused to come out. Corporal Garland says it was a mental health issue and was resolved peacefully. He’s been charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm and unsafe storage of a firearm.
