The Deer Lake Regional Airport Authority is celebrating a milestone today of 25 years in service. President and CEO Tammy Priddle says the team has been busy getting ready for a special event from 3-5 pm today. She says they have a lot to celebrate and it’s a time to look back and see how far they’ve come with help from partners and stakeholders. Priddle says the Deer Lake airport started in 1954 with a gravel runway. She says they’ll have photos displayed that tell the airport’s history with a new runway and terminal building. Last Sunday, the Deer Lake Regional Airport Authority launched a social media contest for a $2500 travel voucher. Priddle says the response has been amazing with many heartfelt memories being shared. She says they’ll make the draw at the event this afternoon.
