Heavy rainfall forces closure of Marble Mountain

    Significant rainfall over the weekend has forced the closure of Marble Mountain during its peak ski and snowboard season. 

    Runoff from rain and melting snow has caused massive amounts of gravel and sand to be deposited at the bottom of the hill, creating trenches extending to the top of the mountain. The Lightning Express area was impacted most with photos showing the dramatic damage from top to bottom. 
     

    While it’s bad news for both staff and users of the mountain, management is anticipating the mountain to be re-opened by Friday, citing snow in forecast models.
