Harvey says privacy is protected by law through the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act, 2015 and the Personal Health Information Act.

Privacy has been recognized by the Supreme Court of Canada as a right of all Canadians under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. This is also Data Privacy week. Michael Harvey is the Information and Privacy Commissioner in NL. He joined Bayfm this morning to talk about an International agreement that was signed on January 28th in1981. Harvey says privacy is protected by law through the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act, 2015 and the Personal Health Information Act. He says at this point they aren’t investigating the cyber attack that struck Grenfell Campus late last month. Harvey says young people today are very savvy but more vulnerable. He says laws for companies need to recognize that children are more vulnerable.
