Many agencies involved in the rescue of a 19 year old from a rock face near York Harbour

    The York Harbour/Lark Harbour Volunteer Fire Department, Corner Brook Fire Department, Bay of Islands Search and Rescue, as well as the Emergency Services Division of the Department of Justice and Public Safety, and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre all assisted in the rescue.

    A 19 year old from Ontario was rescued after becoming stranded on a rock face near the waterfall known as the “Raddler.” near York Harbour. RNC were called out to the area of Blomidon Brook around 6 p.m. on Monday. Cst James Cadigan says the young man was unable to get back safely so a rescue mission was started. The York Harbour/Lark Harbour Volunteer Fire Department, Corner Brook Fire Department, Bay of Islands Search and Rescue, as well as the Emergency Services Division of the Department of Justice and Public Safety, and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre all assisted in the rescue. Cadigan says the man was airlifted around 1:30 yesterday (Tuesday)  morning and later reunited with family. There were no injuries. Adam Gaudet is the Training Coordinator with the Bay of Islands Volunteer Search and Rescue Team. He says a dozen members showed up to help the other agencies. Gaudet says more members offered help but were not needed. Gaudet says he managed to get to bed around 3:30 yesterday morning.
