MHA's to vote tonight on the Churchill Falls MOU

    Corner Brook MHA Gerry Byrne the MOU is an agreement and is not a deal, and a final contract won’t be complete until April, 2026.

    MHA’s will vote tonight on the Memorandum of Understanding between NL Hydro and Hydro Quebec. A debate has been ongoing in the House of Assembly since Monday( January 6th). Corner Brook MHA Gerry Byrne the MOU is an agreement and is not a deal, and a final contract won’t be complete until April, 2026. Byrne says this is a huge project and needs to move forward for our future. Premier Andrew Furey says over the life of the agreement, the province will see dividends of more than $200 billion by 2075, have access to nearly four times the electricity we do today, and will  include the development of Gull Island without the financial and construction risks.
