Mobile crisis team ready for the Bay St. George area

    The purpose is to deliver crisis intervention services directly to people in the community, eliminating the need to visit emergency departments and involve the criminal justice system.

    Government announced on Wednesday that mobile crisis response services are being expanded to help people in the Bay St. George area in partnership with the RCMP. Melissa Roberts is the Regional  Director for Mental Health and Addictions Services with NL Health Services-western zone. She says these teams include mental health and addictions clinicians and trained police officers who respond together to crises in the community. The purpose is to deliver crisis intervention services directly to people in the community, eliminating the need to visit emergency departments and involve the criminal justice system. Roberts says these teams started over 5 years ago and can be found throughout the province. For more information go to bridgetheggapp.ca
