A news release from the players of the Corner Brook Royals ended with “we would like to join the proposed Central West Coast Senior Hockey League.”
Another news release today dealing with the West Coast Senior Hockey League. The Stephenville Lightning is joining the Deer Lake Red Wings in forming a Central West Senior Hockey League with the Grand Falls Cataracts. That leaves only the Corner Brook Royals and the Port aux Basques Mariners in the west coast league. Tony Buckle is a board executive and President of the Corner Brook Royals. On Bayfm this morning with Lenny Benoit, Buckle says no one knows why this happened. Meanwhile, the Corner Brook Royals also issued a news release this afternoon. Simply signed players of the Corner Brook Royals, it starts by saying they feel misrepresented in ongoing WCSHL discussions and they feel this morning’s radio commentary on Bayfm with president Tony Buckle does not represent the players nor their wishes. It also states Buckle and the executive went against players wishes and declined the request to join the Central West Senior Hockey League. It went on to say “a meeting was held yesterday and after 30 minutes it was clear the president had no intention of attending.” The release ended with “we would like to join the proposed CWSHL.”
