That deal between the NDP and Liberals secured a minority government for the Liberals during the last federal election.
Yesterday the leader of the federal NDP announced on his social media that the deal is done with the Liberals. Jasmeet Singh said, “Today, I notified the Prime Minister that I have ripped up the Supply and Confidence Agreement.” That deal between the NDP and Liberals secured a minority government for the Liberals during the last federal election. It was in exchange for policies, like dental, which the NDP wanted. Trudeau says he doesn’t have time for playing politics and is in NL to make an announcement. He says people are talking about the high cost of living, the environment and climate change, and more. Trudeau hopes the NDP stays focused on how we can deliver for Canadians rather than focus on politics. Singh also accused the Liberals of caving to “corporate greed.” Trudeau says an election won’t happen any time soon but will come in the coming year, hopefully not until next fall. He says in the meantime he will continue to deliver for Canadians.
