Forestry Minister Gerry Byrne says, “The achievement of this internationally recognized standard demonstrates the Provincial Government’s commitment to ensuring that the forestry industry in Newfoundland and Labrador remains vibrant for years to come.”

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has been recognized for its efforts to achieve and maintain environmentally responsible forest management standards. For the 10th consecutive year, forestry operations administered by the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture have maintained International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification.  In a recent audit performed by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP under the environmental management system standard, the province’s Crown forest operations have been recertified until 2027, subject to annual surveillance audits. Forestry Minister Gerry Byrne says, “The achievement of this internationally recognized standard demonstrates the Provincial Government’s commitment to ensuring that the forestry industry in Newfoundland and Labrador remains vibrant for years to come.”
