There are 580 foster families in this province.
Newfoundland and Labrador needs more foster families. Kelli Hodder is the Executive Director, Newfoundland and Labrador Foster Families Association. She says there are 580 foster families in this province but some children have to wait. Hodder says more rural foster families will mean children won’t have to travel outside of their hometown. October is National Foster Families Month and the theme is “Foster Families: Nurturing Hearts and Strengthening Families." Hodder says the reward of watching a child succeed is why foster parents do the work. She says they will be hosting virtual information sessions this month for anyone interested in becoming a foster parent. For more information call 1-855-683-8111.
