The takeCHARGE EVerything EVs Roadshow will roll into Deer Lake this afternoon for anyone who would like to check out the wide variety of electric vehicles available. An event will get underway 4-7 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion. Keith Barrett is the Manager of Energy Solutions with NLPower. He says there are about 800 electric vehicles in this province. Barrett says the electric car is a better drive and ride. “It’s very peppy when you hit the accelerator it takes off, breathtaking but you have to control yourself, “ he says. “They handle very well and are quiet, and you can save 70-80 percent of fuel costs by switching to an electric vehicle.” Barrett says they are less maintenance and more choices are becoming available. “There are a lot more different models out now which is very exciting, “ he says. “The Ford Lightning is the pickup truck replacement but more models of SUVs are coming out.” The takeCHARGE EVerything EVs Roadshow will be in Corner Brook at Margaret Bowater Park starting tomorrow at 4pm.
