No charges against a police officer who deleted dirty images from son's phone

    Director Michael King says, “one might argue that, upon learning SO’s  son was in possession of an intimate image, SO did what any parent might do."

    A police officer who deleted a video his son made will not be charged for interfering in an investigation. The teen was being investigated by the RNC after showing naked images of his friend. In late February, the RNC notified SIRT NL of the incident and an investigation by SIRT NL started in March. Director Michael King says, “one might argue that, upon learning SO’s  son was in possession of an intimate image, SO did what any parent might do – that is, wipe the phone to prevent any further dissemination of the image.” In summary, I have not formed reasonable grounds to believe the subject officer committed an offence. No charge will be laid. This file is now concluded.
