Most travelled to the province by their own means, according to Immigration Minister Gerry Byrne.

Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of the first flight to this province with Ukrainian refugees. On February 24, 2022,  Russia’s Vladimir Putin launched an attack on Ukraine. Immigration Minister Gerry Byrne says this caused a mass exodus of Ukrainians with 4 airlifts here totalling 770 Ukrainians. He says today, there are 2700 Ukrainians living in this province. Minister Byrne says most of them came here on their own means, choosing this province as their future home.
