MHA Pleaman Forsey says NL is down to only 4 water bombers after one was damaged while refilling in 2018.
The opposition is sounding the alarm about a water bomber and pilot shortage in the province. MHA Pleaman Forsey says NL is down to only 4 water bombers after one was damaged while refilling in 2018. He says the aircraft is still now sitting idle in Gander and has not been repaired. Last year, there was a major forest fire in central, and Forsey says government was not prepared for it and did not have enough staff to fly the aircraft. Forsey says there are only enough pilots available to fly 3 water bombers and there have been 72 fires burning throughout the province. He says we need to be more prepared. Forsey says you only need to turn on the news to see fires raging across the country to understand the impact.
