Grenfell Campus has announced details about their upcoming cap and gown day.
Convocation sessions are taking place May 18. More than 150 graduates are scheduled to cross the stage at the Arts and Culture Centre in Corner Brook to receive degrees. At 10am, degrees in nursing, environmental sustainability, as well as, science in boreal ecosystems, and science nursing will be handed out. At 3pm, they will receive degrees in Arts and Honours, Science and Honours, and technology and education. Then at 7pm, fine arts and visual arts, business administration and honours will be awarded.
Grenfell vice-president, Dr. Ian Sutherland, says “Convocation is just a great day. It’s a culmination of years of hard work, and the sense of excitement and pride is palpable.”
Four honorary degrees will be awarded including Come From Away writers Irene Sankoff and David Hein; Indigenous leader Odelle Pike, and dancer and promoter of joy and wellness Gurdeep Pandher. An open to the public community dance with Mr. Pandher, will take place 6:30 pm May 16 at the Majestic Lawn.
Last July 1st, 2024, Newfoundland and Labrador commemorated the centennial of the National War Memorial in downtown St. John’s, which included the repatriation and burial of an unknown soldier from the First World War.
It supports seniors’ and senior-serving organizations to promote activities and programs that support social inclusion, healthy aging, mental wellness, and overall well-being.
Nine bowlers between the ages of 10-17 and four coaches are making the trek to the Nationals, which take place May 5th to the 7th at the Bonnie Doon Lanes.
