The opposition wants government to do something about increasing fuel costs due to taxes. PC Party Leader, Tony Wakeham is calling on government to make life more affordable in light of fuel hikes yesterday. He says the Liberal Clean Fuel Standard has increased 5.40 cents per litre for gasoline and 6.02 cents per litre for diesel. Wakeham says “Liberals continue to pour fuel on the cost of living crisis by doubling down on this inflationary tax, taking more money out of the pockets of the seniors, middle-income families, and those on fixed incomes who struggle the most. In addition to this week’s increase, the Parliamentary Budget Officer has found that these regulations will mean another 17 cents per litre added to gasoline costs and 16 cents for diesel by 2030. Wakeham says “In a recent report by the Seniors Advocate, it was revealed that 32 percent of seniors are unable to meet their basic needs, 60 percent are going without food, and 57 percent cannot afford essential medications.
