RCMP Police Service Dog Marlow sprang into action, preventing Jacob Gonzalez’s escape.
RCMP Police Service Dog Marlow is earning her stripes this week dealing with a culprit twice in the same day. Police say 20-year-old Jacob Gonzalez of Cupids was apprehended at the scene of a commercial break and enter in Brigus early Wednesday morning by RCMP Police Service Dog Marlow, her handler and Bay Roberts RCMP. Gonzalez is believed to be responsible for a second break and enter that occurred in South River earlier in the morning. Then, at 3:45 a.m. RCMP were called to multiple alarms sounding at the Baccalieu Trail Pharmacy in South River. That’s when PDS Marlow searched the area and found stolen property. Shortly before 6:00 a.m police were called to a break and enter in progress at Jim’s Quick Stop in Brigus and the suspect, Gonzalez, was inside and arrested. Once outside, he became uncooperative, assaulted one of the police officers and attempted to flee on foot. RCMP Police Service Dog Marlow sprang into action, preventing Gonzalez’s escape. Gonzalez is charged with both break and enters, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.
