RCMP NL’s West District General Investigation Section (GIS) have charged a Grand Falls-Windsor man after searching a home in the town on July 15th. Sixty-three-year-old Andrew Noseworthy has been charged with possession of contraband cannabis and unstamped tobacco. Police searched a home on 17th Avenue and found more than 60,000 individual cigarettes, approximately 2.25 Pounds of suspected Hashish and nearly $17,000.00. Noseworthy is due to appear in court September 4th.
Meanwhile, Rick Barnum is a recently retired Deputy Commissioner of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Investigations and Organized Crime command. During his 32-year career, Rick was privileged to participate in and lead numerous major investigations related to organized crime groups based in Ontario and beyond. He says organized crime exists especially along our coastlines. Barnum says a lot of contraband tobacco leaves from Ontario destined for other parts of the country including NL. Barnum is a recipient of the Officer of the Order of Merit of Police forces (O.O.M.) and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee medal.
