Qalipu First Nations are putting the finishing touches on plans for National Indigenous Peoples Day which is this Friday. Paul Pike is a Cultural Outreach officer with the band. He spoke on Bayfm’s “Qalipu Today” this week to talk about the events taking place in central and on the west coast. Pike says this day is a powerful time for ceremony for everyone. Pike says the day will consist of everything from sunrise ceremonies, story telling, singing, sharing of food, dancing and more. He says things get underway 6 o’clock Friday morning at the Majestic Lawn in Corner Brook. Events will also be taking place in Grand-Falls Windsor, Glenwood, Flat Bay, Port au Port, Stephenville Crossing, and Stephenville.
