All vehicles were seized and impounded.
A busy night for St. John’s RNC chasing drivers who did not want to stop. Police say they attempted a traffic stop around 9 o’clock last night in the Columbus Drive area. A 17 year old male was arrested after a short pursuit. He’s been charged with dangerous driving, flight from police, operating with no insurance, operating while suspended and using a false identification marker. RNC say the same teenager is facing dangerous driving and flight from police only days earlier. Then, at 9:45 in Torbay, a male operating a vehicle fled the area at a high rate of speed and failed to stop for police. A pursuit was terminated for public safety reasons. A 15 year old male was arrested after an investigation. He has been charged with flight from police and dangerous driving. Shortly after 10:20 RNC tried to stop a driver on Columbus Drive. The operator wouldn’t stop and started driving in the opposing lanes. Given the dangerous actions of the driver, the incident was terminated. A short time later, the vehicle was located abandoned in a grassy field and impounded for further examination. Later, at 2:30 this morning, RNC conducted a traffic stop in the downtown area and a driver refused to stop, jumped from the vehicle, and tried to get away on foot. Police caught the 45 year old man. He has been charged with flight from police, driving while disqualified, obstructing a peace officer, refusal of a drug examination and impaired driving. Upon searching the vehicle, a loaded firearm, ammunition as well as drugs and drug paraphernalia were located.
