Mayor Tom Rose says it is sitting with the airport's lawyers now as they finish dealing with the bankruptcy.
The final steps in the sale of the Stephenville Airport could be made any day now. The airport was sold to businessman Carl Dymond for $6 million a year ago and has now been named “The Stephenville Dymond International Airport.” Town Mayor Tom Rose says it’s normal for a commercial sale of this magnitude to take upwards of 2 years to complete. He says it’s sitting with the lawyers on the airport side to clear off the bankruptcy. The final cost for the airport also includes another million dollars for upgrades to the lighting system. Mayor Rose says that number is a variable and can change based on costs of the day. Mayor Rose says 30,000 Newfoundlanders rotate out of this province for work. He says the airport has never been a more important piece of infrastructure with upcoming wind hydrogen projects.
