Federal Emergency Preparedness Minister Harjit Sajjan met with volunteer firefighters and search and rescue teams on the west coast this past weekend. Bay of Islands Search and Rescue’s Shawn Street was in Deer Lake for their meeting on Sunday. He says a lot of the discussion centered around how to get more people involved with emergency preparedness. Street says being prepared is easy; take enough medication, food, water and clothing to last a few days. He says when heading out into the woods always make a trip plan and let someone know about it.
