The Opposition Shadow Minister of Health says there are two many unanswered questions about a new contract awarded to a US firm to provide virtual physician care throughout the province. Barry Petten says Teladoc is getting $22 million over two years to provide the service. He says the Nurses Union, Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association, NAPE, and the Nurse Practitioners Union have already heightened their concerns about what this contract means to the future of public healthcare delivery in the province. Petten says he wonders if these service will be the future for rural areas. He says a computer monitor is no replacement for an in person visit.
