The Qalipu First Nations band spent $10 million last year for members post-secondary education

    The  Qalipu First Nations Band is funding slightly more than 1100 students enrolled in post- secondary education.

    Kayla Lucas is the band’s Manager of Post Secondary education. She joined Lenny Benoit on Qalipu today this week. Lucas says last year the band paid out $10 million for post secondary education. Lucas says they are doing some direct payments to MUN, Academy Canada and are currently working with College of the North Atlantic. She says once you’re in the system, there is no need to reapply. Lucas availed of funding back in 2011 when the band was first formed. The deadline to apply for the winter semester is October 31st.
